Welcome to the Bare Assets CD ROM. This CD ROM contains 24 bit and 8 bit photographs of beautiful women, QuickTime¬ movies featuring glamorous dance routines as well as interviews with each model. Also included on this disk are the QuickTime extension from Apple Computer, Inc. and Hypercard¿ from Claris Corporation.
About The Photographs
These photos look much better when viewed with a 24 bit color card. There are identical 8 bit images on this CD which have been converted to an optimal palatte and dithered for best 8 bit viewing. The stack checks the bit depth of your monitor before displaying each picture and selects the appropriate version to display.

About QuickTime Movies
QuickTime movies add an exciting new dimension to multimedia and personal computing. There are some problems with the current technology, however. Because of the speed of the current Macintosh CPU's and the rate at which data can be read from Hard disks and CD ROM drives, there is a limit to the amout of information that can be displayed at a given time. These hardware limitations dictate slower frame rates, lower image quality and small window sizes even though the original videotape was of high quality. QuickTime movies are 16 bit images. The best images are viewed from a 24 bit Macintosh or an LC in 16 bit mode. The movies will look a bit "snowy" on 8 bit machines.
The Bare Assets QuickTime movies can be played from your CD ROM drive or your hard disk. There are advantages and disadvantages to both. The movies that reside in the folder "Run from CD" are recorded at a lower frame rate and image quality. This lower quality is neccesary to accomodate the slow data transfer from your CD ROM drive. The folder "Run from Hard Disk" contains movies which are recorded at a higher image quality and frame rate. Copy these movies to your hard disk and view with MoviePlayer¬ for better QuickTime performance. These files are very large, however, so you may be limited to viewing the movies from the CD ROM.
TO VIEW QUICKTIME MOVIES you must be running system 6.0.7 or higher (this includes System 7), you need a color Macintosh, and obviously a CD ROM drive. To view movies, drag the QuickTime extension from the Bare Assets CD ROM and drop it onto your closed System folder. If you are running System 7, your Macintosh will put the QuickTime extension into the Extensions folder for you. Then restart your Macintosh to activate.
We have also included the QuickTime compatible versions of the Scrapbook DA for both System 6 and System 7. If you are using System 7, replace the Scrapbook file in the Apple Menu Items folder with the 'Scrapbook' file in the QuickTime folder on the Bare Assets CD. If you are using System 6.0.7, use the Font/DA Mover to install the Scrapbook DA from the 'Scrapbook for System 6' suitcase into your System file.
